The days are now really getting shorter, and it is time to hunker down guilt free by the fire,
And to wrap up in a thick wool blanket to watch a bit of telly before heading upstairs to retire.
After a mild October surely the cold air is set to arrive and stay, as we gear up for Guy Fawkes night,
And the inevitable firework displays creating a sky that is both bright and brilliant against the moonlight!
It is also the time of the year for the infamous Sodbury Slog where runners take to the muddy countryside
For a run that challenges everyone to stay on their feet instead of their backside, and to remain dignified!
In November we commemorate the British service members who have died in military conflicts and wars,
With a two-minute silence, the wearing of poppies, and gatherings at cenotaphs and memorials outdoors.
In Chipping Sodbury the shops are gently preparing for the Christmas rush and general seasonal hoo hah
With plans in place for the Christmas Tree Trial, and the hanging of the giant sparkling High Street star.
So come for a visit with a chance to enjoy this month of mellow fruitfulness, mists, and golden hues,
And enjoy a little break from the mundane routine, and to try and escape the somewhat gloomy news
A month of bank holidays and the advent of a bounty of flowers as springtime is in full bloom
And we welcome Mother Nature’s full colour palette after the winter months of doom and gloom!
The Badminton Horse Trials kick off once more with the event staged within the beautiful Estate,
Showcasing an array of 500 trade stands and the world class equestrian sport as being first rate!
The Sodbury Players are back bringing the legendary antics of Blackadder to the Town Hall,
Recreating some of the most iconic episodes with wit and humour before the final curtain call!
Following on from the success of D-Day we can now focus on the 80th anniversary of VE Day
With the lighting of Beacons and Lamp Lights of Peace on the 8th of May, plus a celebration display.
The Good Times come to Chipping Sodbury in the form of singers and musicians we all know
From Billy Ocean, Gabrielle and Will Young to the boogie woogie king, Jools Holland, the maestro!
Katherine Ryan is also in town alongside other special guests making the event a knockout show,
So hurry up and get yourself organised with tickets and booked into The Moda House pronto!
Is there a more joyous month than May when the flowers burst forth and produce abounds,
And is a glorious time of year to get the sun on your face and listen to all the seasonal bird sounds!
Spring, the season of renewal, ushers in April with a burst of colour, life and vibrant flowers
As nature awakens from its winter slumbers and treats us all to gentle sunshine and showers!
We have the long Easter weekend to enjoy, plus the nonsense of April Fool’s Day with cheeky so and so’s,
And a chance to celebrate St Goerge’s Day with lots of Morris Dancing and Punch and Judy shows!
The Sodbury Yarn Over is back with more fun, fibre, yarn, ideas and workshops for all fellow crafty types
With the opportunity to share creative ideas in all things yarn and share patterns and bold stars and stripes!
Oasiz is also back performing their hits with the famous swagger and authentic look and sound alike act
Plus the gardens at Badminton House are back open with a huge display of tulips to create a magical impact!
So let us all get ready for the return of gorgeous greenery bringing a sense of optimism that we can all embrace,
With the opportunity to think about our summer plans and the chance to savour the warmth and outdoor space!
A little hint at times that the long winter is nearly over as the days get longer and the clocks change,
And we can look forward to lighter evenings as the practise of advancing clocks alters the time and range.
In Chipping Sodbury we have one of the world’s leading guitar quartets performing, along with a Craft Fayre,
The return of comedian Ed Byrne and the UK’s top Carpenters Experience show with all their hits to share!
It is also the month to spoil loved ones on Mothering Sunday, and to flip and enjoy a pancake or two,
As both events have their own traditions and will be celebrated by many to both indulge and say thank you!
March is a month that can be either winter or spring with blustery and sunny spells as nature begins its story
With flowers beginning to bloom, and the tulips and daffodils appearing in all their magnificent glory!
It is also a month that carries strong symbolism when animals wake from hibernation to the transformation
Of new growth, alongside the spring-cleaning rituals that become a fixation of the whole nation!
So let’s just enjoy the taste of things to come and celebrate St Patricks Day with vibrant celebrations,
Plus the famous Red Nose Day encouraging people to have fun to raise money for various organisations!
